1) Make sure everyone wins… the customers, you, your family or anyone else that may be involved. If you make the right decisions, everyone will win, and you will be doing the right thing. You will be successful by doing this because if you are truly doing the right thing, the customer will believe in you and trust you.
2) You have to make the call. Do not prejudge any type of business. Make calls on places where most people would not go. The reason to make these calls is because this is the customer who really needs your help and expertise. They need someone to show them different things that can help them be successful. Find a way to help even if it is not providing them with a sign. Most importantly, contract or no contract, leave with a new friend every time.
3) Learn the words. Know what you’re talking about. Be the guy who knows more than the customers. Let the customer find out you know what you are talking about. Always continue to practice. If all dealers, old and new, continually read through the script, they will always find things they can practice.
